"SLA’s instructional design has been instrumental in making [our] courses highly interactive and they have also provided some creative content for our online simulations. We value their support in helping us achieve deadlines and in being flexible so that we can take advantage of new opportunities as they arise."

eLearning

We provide the full range of e-learning services: from strategic planning for e-learning, through instructional design to delivery and evaluation.

Transformative Consulting

We help clients to plan for successful incorporation of e-learning by focussing on their specific needs, their desired educational outcomes and the resources needed to implement effective online courses. We can undertake a needs analysis and a SWOC analysis for this purpose.

We can also help clients to apply for funding for their e-learning projects from relevant government and other funding agencies.

Instructional Design

Our instructional design is focussed on outcomes. From the beginning we define the expected outcomes and work backwards to determine appropriate activities and content.

We encourage our clients to adopt SCORM for their projects and, where possible, to use a SCORM certified authoring system and LMS. We explain the benefits of reusability and the advantages of using XML to separate content from design.

We will base our instructional design on the specific educational needs of their learners, the available resources, the current state of the technology and the desired learning outcomes.

The overall aim is to present material in the most learner-friendly formats, using relevant technology in a consistent framework that facilitates the assimilation of knowledge and skills.

Course Development

SLA’s course development services cover all aspects of the production of a course. We typically work in very close collaboration with our clients.

We can analyze existing content and provide a conceptual map on which to base e-learning aggregations. We can conduct a gap analysis to see if additional content is needed.

In many cases, we can write suitable content where none exists. We can also help to identify relevant media to enhance or replace text. This may include videos, flash audio, images, tables, charts etc.

We can also advise on the use of social learning, such as webinars, discussion forums, and blogs.
